Travel: This Hotel Shapes Your Vacation Around Your Horoscope

“Your glow is bound to attract all sorts of wonderful things and delicious people. You’re lit up from within right now.” If I were to design a vacation out of today’s horoscope, I’d probably stop by the Sydney Opera House and then eat my friend Josie before I spontaneously combust—probably due to the Australian heat.

A new, boutique hotel in Sydney, Australia is shaping vacations just like that, astrologically. It’s called The Ultimo, and it’s the world’s first astrology-themed hotel. From the rooms equipped with astrological literature, artwork and even slippers to the unique city guides curated to your sign, The Ultimo aligns your vacation with the zodiac.

Because it’s Gemini season, here’s how the hotel recommends a Gemini spend their Sydney trip. “Born with the need to communicate, Gemini is the sign of the social butterfly.” Following The Ultimo “Explorology” guide, Gemini vacationers should, “Belt out some tunes at Dynasty Karaoke right next door to The Ultimo; head to Oxford Street and lose yourself at some of Sydney’s best bookstores, Berkelouw Books; and cure your curiosity and take a Captain Cook cruise around Sydney Harbour.”For food, they should consider: The Local Mbassy, a 1920’s boiler-room-inspired cafe; Golden Century for some seafood; and the underground bar Palmer & Co.

This entire analysis is curated by the hotel’s astrologer Damian Rocks, founder of the organization Stars Like You and a resident of Australia’s morning talk show circuit.

Astrology-packaged rooms start at $229 per night, which is roughly the price of an hour consultation with Damian. So if you’re feeling on edge or in the midst of an existential crisis, The Ultimo might provide some direction … now the only problem is reaching Australia.

NASA May Have Changed Your Zodiac Sign

Imagine our surprise (and okay, slight panic), when we got the bone-chilling news that NASA may have declared the date ranges by which we define the signs to be all wrong. Once we got over the initial shock, being the voracious stargazers that we are, we knew we needed to take a closer look.

In a blog post published back in January of this year, NASA reminded us that there are, in fact, 13 constellations in the original zodiac. It’s just that 3,000 years ago, when they were drawing up a plan for the signs of the zodiac that would correspond with the months of year, the Babylonians already had a 12-month calendar — so they left poor Ophiuchus out. With that and the fact that the earth’s axis no longer points in the same direction in mind, NASA explained that the signs as we know them have completely different date ranges now.

Here the “new” dates for all 13 signs:

Capricorn: January 20 – February 16

Aquarius: February 16 – March 11

Pisces: March 11 – April 18

Aries: April 18 – May 13

Taurus: May 13 – June 21

Gemini: June 21 – July 20

Cancer: July 20 – August 10

Leo: August 10 – September 16

Virgo: September 16 – October 30

Libra: October 30 – November 23

Scorpio: November 23 – November 29

Ophiuchus: November 29 – December 17

Sagittarius: December 17 – January 20

Now that you’ve caught your breath, here’s a hard truth: From the get-go, astrology was not intended as an exact science. And as NASA has shown, some of its most foundational values, like these very signs, can be challenged by astrology’s hard-science counterpart, astronomy.

For those of you scrambling to know what to believe in anymore, it’s completely up to you. Some astrologers add that the seasons play a role in determining the signs’ dates, but it’s really just a matter of whether you subscribe to the zodiac signs or their corresponding constellations.

Each person has a different relationship with their sign and horoscope — if they have one at all — so if you’d like this news from NASA to shatter your worldview, by all means, let it. But if you’ve already invested a fair share of personal meaning into the sign you’ve believed you were born under all along, that’s fine, too.

Finally, it’s important to keep in mind that this isn’t the first time this has happened and it won’t be the last — after all, in the next couple thousand years, the earth’s axis will probably point in a slightly different direction all over again.

Don’t Miss Tonight’s ‘Blueberry Moon’

The Strawberry Moon rang in the summer solstice. Now, as we get closer to September’s fall equinox, we have a different “fruit” in the sky. Tonight, the Blueberry Moon, this month’s full moon, will shine bright.

According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, Native American tribes named the full moons after corresponding fertile crops as a way to mark the seasons throughout the year. The Blueberry Moon is also frequently called the Sturgeon Moon, in reference to a type of fish that Native American tribes frequently caught in the Great Lakes and Vermont’s Lake Champlain during this time. Other tribes called the moon the Grain Moon or Green Corn Moon.

The moon will reach peak fullness at 5:27 AM tomorrow, but you’ll still be able to see a mostly full moon tonight. You can catch a full broadcast starting tonight at 8 p.m., on the website Slooh.

Sadly, only the moon’s shape, not it’s color, will resemble that of a ripe blueberry. But you can always celebrate its arrival with blueberry-studded sweets.

Who You Should Actually Spend Valentine’s Day With According To Your Zodiac Sign

It’s almost Valentine’s Day and if you want love to be in the air, you have to find the right match. We’ve partnered with Psychic Source to bring you this forecast of your best Valentine’s date options based on your astrological sign. Knowledge is power, and the first step to having a perfect V-day is to know exactly what you’re looking for.

(March 21st to April 19th)

Aries people love the exciting situations a lot of the other signs would be intimidated by — rooms full of people they don’t know (yet), new cities, the lure of something they haven’t experienced before. They could spend Valentine’s Day with a room full of strangers and leave with a few new best friends and love interests. Your perfect match is someone you can introduce to new things (and who will be down to try it): a Gemini or Aquarius would be ideal.

(April 20th to May 21st)

No one can get in (and stay in) a rut like a Taurus. But they like it that way! For their special love holiday they should do exactly what they want to and spend it with people who can appreciate the beauty of stability. A Netflix date with a fellow homebody like Cancer or Pisces will be the best use of V-day.

(May 22nd to June 21st)

It doesn’t really matter who I say a Gemini should spend the day with because they will keep second guessing until the very last minute until they suddenly make a decision. They should partner up with someone who won’t mind taking the lead — and is confident enough that a Gemini won’t second guess them. They’ll also need to walk the impossible line of being both exciting and laid back. Try an Aries, Aquarius, or Libra.

(June 22nd to July 22nd)

Cancers LOVE love. They love the act of loving, and they love being loved. They need to spend Valentine’s with someone who can freely express their emotions and hang with the most sensitive sign. They should do a nurturing activity (like cooking a meal) with a Pisces or Virgo. If they want to live on the edge they can choose a Scorpio — just be aware that the only emotion they’ll be expressing is sexual in nature.

(July 23rd to August 22nd)

Like Cancers, Leos LOVE love — they just happen to like the receiving part a lot more than the giving part. They need to feel like the star in their relationship, which means they should be with someone who won’t feel like they’re playing second fiddle. A perfect Valentine’s date would be an activity that the Leo shines at but will be fun for everyone involved (like karaoke if they’re a singer, or a cooking or painting class). They should bring along a Sagittarius or a Capricorn.

(August 23rd to September 22nd)

Virgos can be really particular about the things that are important to them. They won’t just want Valentine’s to be another day; they’ll want it to be the best day it could be. They should be with someone who will appreciate their planning and work — but will also help them chill out a bit. Dinner at a well-researched restaurant with a Taurus or a Capricorn would be ideal.

(September 23rd to October 22nd)

One of the best qualities of Libras is that they can get along with just about anyone. Their natural calmness is magnetic and they can bring out the best in their partner, no matter who they are. For Valentine’s Day, they should hang with a Gemini or a Sagittarius and let their date suggest an activity. No matter what it is, a Libra will make it better.

(October 23rd to November 22nd)

Scorpios can get a lot of grief for their feisty temperament, but they more than make up for it when they channel that passion and emotion into love. Their best partnership comes with someone who can balance them out — someone more stable than volatile, quick to love and slow to anger. Cancer or Pisces are the best bet.

 (November 23rd to December 21st)

Sagittarius people love Valentine’s Day — but only in secret. They come across so confident and tough, it’s hard to imagine they appreciate a little love fest like the rest of us. For a wild time they should hook up with a Scorpio, for a more meaningful night they should find someone who will let them be vulnerable in their need for love, like a Gemini or an Aquarius.

(December 22nd to January 20th)

A Capricorn not only wants to celebrate Valentine’s Day, they want to celebrate the *perfect* Valentine’s Day. They should receive flowers at the office in front of all their friends and have reservations at a nice restaurant to look forward to that night. They should plan to spend their day with someone who will put the work into making the day the best it could be (up to those lofty Capricorn standards): another Capricorn or a Virgo.

(January 21st to February 18th)

Aquarians are often the funniest sign. They have no problem getting dates because of their magnetic personalities and easy charm. They could win over whatever sign they wanted, if they tried hard enough but it’s good to remember that just because you can doesn’t mean you should. Stick to a sign you’ll truly enjoy hanging around with past the thrill of the chase: a Sagittarius, Libra, or Aries.

(February 19th to March 20th)

A Pisces is the perfect sidekick for Valentine’s Day. They are laid back enough to enjoy just about any activity — but they’re much more selective when it comes to their partner. A good match for a Pisces needs to be intelligent, kind, and emotionally stable. They should look for a Cancer, Virgo or Scorpio and plan a casual date like making pizza from scratch while watching both of their favorite movies.

What Happens When You Date Your Same Astrology Sign

Dating your own zodiac sign can be tricky, since the other person will reflect both your best and worst traits right back at you. Cancers are as cozy together as two bugs in a rug, but they can also drive each other crazy with their moodiness. Aquarians may be the best of friends, but could remain so detached that true passion never quite catches fire. And Leos? God forbid you should both want to be the center of attention at the same time! Let’s see how dating your own sign would work for you.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)
This can be a tough match. You’re both hot-headed, want your way, and tend to blame the other person when things go wrong. On the other hand, you spark each other’s passionate nature, and will have lots of active fun together. Fighting fairly is the key to your success … yes, there will be fights! “Never go to bed angry” should be your relationship’s motto.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

The Bull is stubborn, with a one-track mind. If you’re on the same track, great! If not, you’ll both need to expand your comfort zones — not an easy task for either one of you. You’re both passionate about your own ideas and opinions, so if one of you is conservative and the other liberal, you’re in for trouble. Sports and sensual enjoyment can keep you together.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Twins never bore each other. In fact, there may be too much unpredictability in this match. One of you will have to become the “stable one” and cultivate a home life, or you may not stay together long enough or go deep enough emotionally to plant your roots. You can, however, talk through any issues that arise, and enjoy a diverse social life together.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

This is one of the better same-sign matches. You’re both nurturing and love to snuggle up at home. So what if you don’t get out much? The biggest drawback, once you learn to tolerate each other’s moods (and not take them personally!), is that your tendency to mother each other can smother the sexual spark. You make great parents, though.

Leo (July 23 – Aug.t 22)
This is a volatile match! You both need a lot of attention, and tend to pout if you don’t get it — so you’ll need to trade off making the other person feel special. Passions run high, which is great for sex, but take care you don’t say or do something in the heat of a fight that fatally damages the relationship. Mutual respect is the key to this union.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)
If you’re both dedicated to the higher Virgo goals of health and service, this could be a match made in heaven. Just don’t try to improve the other person or criticize their behavior — which kills the passion. Overanalyzing the relationship can also make it wither on the vine. Plant a garden or do yoga together and you’ll bring out the best in each other.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

This can be a lovely union — you’re both attuned to pleasing the other person and cultivating balance and fairness. The danger, though, is that you’ll stay too superficial — projecting a beautiful image of love while resentments bubble below the surface. You’ll have to be willing to rock the boat a bit so this match can come into its full potential.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)
Passion, danger, intrigue … two Scorpios have it all! Maybe too much so. Trust is the crucial ingredient that makes this match work. If one or both partners is suspicious or jealous, you’re in for a rocky ride. It’s essential to share your deepest feelings in this union, but don’t bonk the other person over the head with them, or you’ll spur resentment.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Here’s a fun match! You’ll be kayaking and motorcycling together to your hearts’ content. Your strong opinions can lead to spirited discussions, but you’re both okay with that. Real trouble looms when one of you wants a commitment and the other prefers to stay footloose. A higher spiritual purpose and shared dreams can keep you together.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

You might not think this would be a great romantic match, since both of you are hard-headed realists. Yet that very practical nature lets you appreciate who the other person really is, devoid of illusions. You can be yourself in this relationship. Just don’t let your worldly ambitions or need for status take precedence over a nurturing home life.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)
Aquarians are very open-minded, and can tolerate — and even enjoy — each other’s eccentricities. And, you make the best of friends. However, the emotional realm is not your forte, so you both may shy away from declaring your feelings and taking things into deeper waters. To cultivate passion, you’ll have to venture out of your comfort zone.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)
You’re both dreamers — which works both for you and against you. Two Fish can float around endlessly in a lovely fantasy, never casting anchor into a secure reality. You tend to wear rose-colored glasses, and that means your sweetheart can do no wrong — which is great, unless that person has serious problems. Get a third party to handle your finances.
