Donut fans, this one is for you. Krispy Kreme is set to debut a limited run of donuts that coincides with the solar eclipse. The donut chain will offer a chocolate rendition of the classic Original Glazed on August 21, the same day as the natural event. There is a catch though, customers are only allowed to purchase the limited donut before its debut during the Hot Light hours on August 19, 20 and all day on Monday the 21.
In a statement by Jackie Woodward, the CMO of Krispy Kreme states:
“The solar eclipse is a rare occasion providing a total sensory experience for viewers across the continental U.S. Chocolate will have the same effect as we introduce a first-time chocolate glazing of our iconic Original Glazed Doughnut. The Chocolate Glazed Doughnut is a delicious way to experience the solar eclipse — no matter where you are — and we can’t wait for fans to try it.”
Will you be picking up the treats?

New Krispy Kreme doughnuts, inspired by the popular Ghirardelli squares, will be available in select stores in the United States and Canada starting April 3. A press release announcing the confections drips with words like “indulgent,” “decadent” and the somewhat-curious catchphrase “OMGhirardelli.”
Jackie Woodward, Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, explains, “Uniting premium chocolate enthusiasts and our beloved doughnut fans, these doughnuts offer an OMG-worthy reward any time of day—whether you’re celebrating life’s everyday moments or in search of a delightful afternoon indulgence.”
In additional to celebrating the little things in life (before death comes in the form of a clogged artery), Krispy Kreme has also liberated us of the burden of decisions, boasting that customers will no longer have the make the Sophie’s choice between “sweet or salty, chocolate or pastry.”
As for the doughnuts themselves, they do sound pretty tantalizing. The Mint Chocolate doughnut will be filled with White Mint Kreme filling “inspired by” the Ghirardelli Mint Chocolate squares, dipped in chocolate icing, decorated with green icing and topped with Ghirardelli mini chocolate chips. The Sea Salt Caramel doughnut, filled with sea salt caramel filling and dipped in chocolate, is topped with a blend of amber sugar, salt sprinkle and Ghirardelli chocolate chips. Are they trying to kill us?
Krispy Kreme’s name is almost ubiquitous now with high-quality donuts, and now it looks like they’re looking to go the extra mile by pushing a revamped version of its coffee.
In order to push it out and sweeten the deal, we’re getting a taste of probably one of the best promotions within 2017, simply put, it’s this: one coffee purchase, one free doughnut. It’s that simple, and it’ll be ongoing for three weeks starting February 6 ending February 28, although limitations are set on choice of donut, with only original glazed being available.
To be perfectly honest, the promotional idea is hardly original, but with the level of fame backing Krispy Kreme’s donuts, we definitely can’t complain.
No matter who you’re voting for, this election is probably stressing you out. Tensions are high, language is heated, and your Facebook is probably unusable. But there is one light waiting at the end of the tunnel.
On Nov. 8, you can get a free doughnut of your choice at any Krispy Kreme if you come in wearing an “I Voted” sticker.
Jackie Woodward, Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, said in a press release, “We want to sweeten Election Day by saying ‘thank you’ to those who participate at the polls. It has been a long election season, and we think a free treat is the perfect way to reward voters.”
So plan your cheat day accordingly, and treat yourself to a doughnut on the most contentious of Election Days.
After 79 years with a single recipe, Krispy Kreme has decided to change things up. The doughnut company has announced that, beginning on Oct. 26, they will offer pumpkin spice doughnuts to customers at participating locations.
The original donuts that have made Krispy Kreme so successful have been a staple for almost 80 years, and this is the first time they have ever changed their recipe. The Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed doughnuts will only be on sale for one day, so grab them while you can.
This is just the latest wave of pumpkin spice flavoring that has become so ubiquitous in recent years. Everything from coffee to beer has been offered in the flavor, and now Krispy Kreme has decided to join the party. If the doughnut doesn’t satisfy your hunger for all things pumpkin spice, consider checking out the company’s pumpkin spice latte.
Krispy Kreme has unveiled arguably the biggest leap forward in food since sliced bread with its donut-dispensing ATM machine at its Holborn branch in London. Created to celebrate its collaboration with Nutella, the ATM only dispenses the Nutella-stuffed Nutty Chocolatta donut upon payment of £2 GBP ($2.88 USD), with all proceeds going towards the Teenage Cancer Trust. Make sure you drop by as soon as you can, since the ATM will only be open until May 21.
